IEA Riding Teams

INTERSCHOLASTIC EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION RIDING TEAMS

Avon Valley Show Stables is proud to host both a lower school (grades 6-8) and upper school (grades 9-12) Inter-Scholastic riding team.  Riders on the teams will compete in level appropriate flat and over fences classes against other teams in the lower New England region.  Riders travel to an IEA host barn, where a horse is assigned which they have never ridden, and show this animal to the best of their abilty! This a very fun and challenging experience.  Riders may compete in Walk/Trot/Canter thru Open 2’6″. Both team and individual points are garnered for each placing in the show!  Our 2007-2008 team qualified for the National Finals!! Come take a look-it really is fun! Girls and boys are welcome!!

I.E.A. Team

Welcome to another competition year of Interscholastic Equestrian Association at Avon Valley Show Stables. To get the most out of your experience, 2 programs have been created to fit your needs. This 12 week period will run from the week of Nov. 28, 2011 through the week of Feb. 19, 2012.  The week of Feb. 26 will be a make- up week for any missed lessons. There will be no regularly scheduled lessons during the week of Dec. 26, but there will be lessons during all other school breaks and holidays.

Option 1: Take 2 designated Team lessons per week at a  rate of $960 for the show season – a discounted rate of $40 per lesson!

Option 2: Take 1 designated Team lesson per week, plus 1 extra Team practice per month at a rate of $45 per lesson.

Boarders are required to join an IEA Team lesson at least 1 time per month.

TEAM LESSON TIMES:

Mondays 4-5        Mon 5-6        Mon 6-7         Tues. 5-6        Tues. 6 – 7

Sat 8:30 – 9:30am        Sat. 9:30 – 10:30

Don’t try to fit both lessons in on Mondays! Also, please note that if you choose Saturday as one of your lesson days, on the weeks there is a Saturday show, you would join one of the Mon or Tues. lessons.  More lesson times may be added based on interest and scheduling.

The best way to improve is to practice, practice, PRACTICE!  We will keep you posted on extra opportunities for practice rides, mock horse shows, etc. Instructors are always available for an occasional extra lesson. To really build up your skills, leasing may be an option.  AVSS has a selection of horses suitable for all levels.  Talk with your instructor to see what is right for you!
