IEA Riding Teams

Avon Valley Show Stables is proud to host successful Middle school (grades 6-8) and Upper school (grades 9-12) Interscholastic Equestrian Association riding teams.  You don’t need to own your own horse to participate! Riders travel to an IEA host barn, where a horse, which they have never ridden, is assigned, and show this animal to the best of their ability with minimal to no practice on that horse! Classes are offered for beginner walk-trot-canter riders up to advanced (Open).  Riders compete as Individuals and as part of the Team to earn enough points to advance to the “post season” – Regionals, Zones, and Nationals!

Ringmaster calling the riders in at IEA National Finals 2014

AVSS has consistently qualified Individuals and Teams for the prestigious National Finals. For the 2011-2012 competition year, in addition to numerous Regional qualifiers and ribbon winners, we are proud about our Middle School Team’s Regional Championship, their 4th place at Zone Finals and 10th place at Nationals! We can also boast about our 2 Individual Zone Champions and 4th place Individual at Nationals.  In addition to numerous individual and team wins, in 2012-2013 our Middle School repeated it’s Regional Finals Championship, as well as having a rider win the Future Novice flat title.

2013-2014 season finished with our Middle School team and 8 Individuals qualifying for Regionals.  From there, 3 riders advanced to Zones, with 2 making it it to Nationals. Hi-lights of the 2014-2015 season include the High School Team and 10 individuals qualifying for Regionals, 5 advancing to Zones with 2 going to Nationals. One of our riders won the 2015 National title for JV Novice over fences.
